HI, I’M SAM.

I’m a people director who wants to craft new stories and design new experiences.

As a seasoned event and people manager with a passion for design, I knew there was a way to elevate my work and challenge myself to do more. After a 12-year career in events and hospitality management, I pivoted to become a non-traditional student. I was admitted to the Advertising and Public Relations concentration at UNC’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media and will graduate with my new degree in May 2024.

I love being a maker, a doer, and a cheerleader.

S0, what’s next?

I am looking to bring my experience in activations, curated experiences, design, and logistics to a company that is human-centric and where no idea is too off-the-walls.

They may need someone who knows how to make a great margarita too.

One of these is not like the others.

Let’s address the lizard in the room…

I was tinkering on a project to create a repeated pattern for my spec clothing brand, DŌ. In my ideation and working with Microsoft’s CoPilot (formerly Microsoft Image Creator), I prompted hundreds of images of “a lizard in a pink tuxedo drinking a cocktail.” The brand I imagined was centered on everyday resort wear to transport the wearer to vacations of whimsy. Dino, my ficticious bartender, became my spirit animal, sitting on my shoulder while spending hours in Adobe. I love the uniqueness of each image but they all have an essence of hospitality and a gentle smirk, alluding to something more.

In that, my branding was born. I am something more; more than a graduate, more than a designer, more than a content creator. I am a lifelong learner who will never stop asking questions and who will continue to hear the stories that others share.
